Should you stop trying to turn Saul into Paul?

on

There have been a lot of videos put on YouTube recently about being unequally yoked. I really thought that I should share my opinion on this subject. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 asks these questions; how can righteousness be a partner with wickedness, how can light live with darkness, what harmony can there be between Christ and the devil, how can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever and what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? It tells us that we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. I am not saying this, the Bible says it and if the Bible says it then God says it. But why? Some people believe that it is ok to turn Saul into Paul to make him suitable for marriage. We are instructed to share the gospel but should this be done in the realms of dating? If you have never witnessed to a person before or felt the need to witness to someone, why do you feel the need to do so now? Your motive for saving someone should not be to make a relationship possible between you two, or to make the relationship easier, it should be because you truly want them to understand the good news. Salvation is a gift, it must not be taken lightly. If you truly want this person to be saved, do it as a friend, invite them to Church not with the intentions that you will both get married in that church in a couple years, but to allow them to hear the gospel. I believe that we should stop trying to turn Saul into Paul but to wait on God and trust that he will provide us with a Boaz. I am not saying that we do not have a duty to bring people to Christ but I do not believe that this should be done for selfish reasons. It is not impossible to bring someone to Christ but if our motive behind bringing this person to Christ is because we are lonely and believe that this boy/man has the potential to be your husband  and that he just needs Christ, then this is not the way. How can light live with darkness? One of you will have to compromise and if you are willing to compromise by settling and not trusting in God to provide you with your Boaz then you will most likely go into the darkness with him before he comes into the light! How can you expect him to respect your decision to remain pure when he is comfortable living in the dark? What is it that attracts you to him if you cannot see Christ in him? It is important to yoked with believers because you can pray and fellowship together! Throughout the hard times who will Saul run to? Will he run to God or to his idols? I pray that as daughters of God, we will realise that we deserve greatness and that we do not need to settle because we are daughters of the King. I pray that we will not be discouraged and I also pray over those you who have the ability to evangelise and that you will have strength as God uses you to turn Saul into Paul. In Jesus name,

Amen
