Preaching to the choir?

People often make the remark that you should stop preaching to the choir, as in the body of Christ and those who already know the gospel. The Bible often tells us to spread the gospel because as Romans 10:14 asks how will they know if the no-one preaches them? However, although it is important to spread the gospel to those who have not found Christ, this does not mean that you should stop preaching to the choir because the choir needs to hear the word too. As Da’ Truth says in his song you would be preaching to the choir too if you’ve seen them lately. At times we all fall short and do not live up to God’s standard but it is always important to help one another and guide one another because that will make us stronger. Just like those without Christ need to hear the good news, the choir also needs to hear the word so that they can be strong enough to share it. It is important to equip the choir with the tools to survive in a such a secular world where many Christians are either ridiculed or persecuted for their faith. The world is attempting to silence the Church, more people are signing into social media sites or reading gossip blogs than reading the Bible or spending time with God daily. We live in a world where more children know who Rupert Murdoch or Richard Branson are and have blank faces when you ask them who T.D. Jakes or Russ Kline is. We live in a world that often tries to make us conform to the world when we are children of the most high God, if the world truly knew who we were they would be trying to conform to fit in with us. As long as the choir is in this world we should never stop preaching to them. I pray that as daughters of God that we will be able to be strong enough to say no, I pray that we will be able to listen to constructive criticism and that we will be able to live a life according to the gospel. In Jesus’ name,

Amen
