Christianity isn’t homophobic!

With the legalisation of same-sex marriages being endorsed by two of the leading western states, anyone who opposes this is instantly labelled as homophobic. Without even asked why they hold their views, they are just labelled. Homophobic? So I am scared of homosexuals and dislike them? That is so far from the truth. I do not hold my attitudes towards same-sex marriages because I hate homosexuals. Jesus states in Matthew 22 that one of the most important commandments is to love your neighbour as yourself. So how can you instantly accuse me of hating them? I hold my views about same-sex marriage because of my belief in marriage. The Bible teaches us that we are all born in sin, it does not tell us to legalise our sins because that only makes it acceptable to the world, the Bible tells us that only Jesus can save us and that it is extremely important to repent. There is no such thing as a big sin, so as Christians it is important to understand that in God’s eyes we are all equal. We cannot act ‘holier than thou’ in comparison to homosexuals. Only God can judge us. The reason why I do not agree with same-sex marriage is because it does not encourage homosexuals to battle their sins or temptations, it just allows them to quit. What is the point of a marriage if it does not glorify God? Should we just legalise adultery because it is ‘scientifically’ proven that men were not born to have one wife? That is exactly what has happened. People say, who are you to tell someone not to express their sexual desires? That is not something that I said, read your Bible. Jesus tells us that if a man looks at a woman who is not his wife with lustful desires then he has sinned and vice versa. So this rule of suppressing sexual desires does not only apply to homosexuals because the homophobic christians said so. To call a Christian homophobic is to say that they are not obeying God and to legalise same-sex marriage only puts them under the illusion that they are obeying God. I pray for any Christian suffering with same-sex feelings, I pray that you will realise that Christ can save you. I pray that you will keep fighting and that you will realise that although the world has made it legal, God wants you to keep fighting. I pray that you will be victorious. In Jesus’ name,

Amen
