A couple of weeks ago I wrote about personalising the Lord’s prayer in an effort to help yourself to pray and remember what to pray for. So here is mine.
Matthew 6: 9 – 13 (bold = what it means to me):
Our Father who art in heaven, Never forget that God reigns in heaven, He is waiting for us there and Jesus is at His right hand side,
Hallowed by thy name, He is holy and I should always show reverence to Him because He is greater than anything,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, Please ensure that I will only do things that are of you, please help me to remember that this world is your creation and that I should only do things that I would do if I was in heaven as we await your return,
Give us this day our daily bread, Lord please can you provide me with everything that I need to survive and help me to remember to thank you when I receive it because it all comes from you and you alone,
And forgive us our trespasses, I must always remember to confess my sins to you, please forgive me for falling short of your standards, please help me to live a life that is pleasing to you,
As we forgive those who trespass against us, Since I expect you to forgive me and since I am grateful for Jesus pleading on my behalf, I will forgive others who do me wrong Lord because I want to be like Christ,
And lead us not into temptation, And deliver us from evil, Lord please help me to remove anything that will distract me from you and lead me into sin, including people, please give me a discerning spirit so that I will be able to fulfil my purpose,
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever Amen! Because you own the world Lord, everything is yours, you have already defeated Satan, you have conquered death, you deserve the praise and the glory for everything, since the beginning of time until the end, Amen.
